Born in Lexington, Kentucky. Education: B.A. from Baylor University (1970), J.D. from Baylor Law School (1971).
Initially employed in 1971 by Davis & Walker (Fred W. Davis and R. Jeff Walker), both now retired state district judges). In 1975, founded Nix & Rollins with J. Andrew Rollins (now deceased). Built present office building in 1977.
Solo practice since 1980, but has shared offices over the years with several attorneys, including Michael Remme, Terry Leedy, Toby Goodman, Pat Remington, Kenneth Kautz, Stan Wilkes, and Constance Hall.
Married to Peggy Nix, former school teacher and school counselor, now a private counselor (MA, M.Ed, LPC, RPT, and CFLE) with Cornerstone Counseling Center.
Father of one son and one daughter, grandfather of two.
Member of Arlington Bar Association since 1971. (Director 1977, Secretary-Treasurer 1979, President 1981)
Member of State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Probate Bar Association, and Arlington Bar Association.
Member of Arlington Kiwanis Southwest (President 1981 and 2002) and First United Methodist Church of Arlington.
